These are Steam’s best gardening games.
Gardening games come in many forms. The main goal is to take care of your plant friends, but that’s hard to do in real life, and you might not have a “green thumb.” Gardening in real life is too dirty and sunny for you, and all you want are games where you can collect pretty growing plants.
There are a lot of gardening sims that let you take care of plants and improve your yard, which is great. Although you won’t be able to touch real grass and dirt in these games, these gardening sims will make your lawn look nice and green.
Stardew Valley
It doesn’t matter if it’s a garden or a farm as long as there are lots of plants. Because Stardew Valley lets you live on a farm, you can be more creative with how you set up your plots.
That being said, farming can be artistic. If you were in charge of planning out hectares of your land, it would feel more like gardening than farming.
You could decorate a whole farm instead of just a yard. Now you can do all of those things without having to work real land. It’s not enough to just make your farm look nice; you also have to make it useful for yourself.
The Sims 4
It’s not the first thing that comes to mind when you play The Sims 4, unless you think of the weird Cowplant that could kill your sims. But gardening is a fun way to make extra money and make your lawn look great at the same time.
You can enjoy gardening in the game, and it’s an even better reason to buy DLCs that are about plants.
As the player, you don’t have to garden to enjoy the game. There are many things inside that have plants that you don’t need to pay much attention to. If you’re into gardening, either for the landscaping or the real gardening, The Sims 4 has the gardening gameplay you’re looking for.
Disney Dreamlight Valley
The idle gameplay in Disney’s Dreamlight Valley will make you feel like a kid again and bring back memories. When you go back to your old town, which is away from the city, you find Dreamlight Valley, which is home to all of your favorite Disney characters.
Remember when Disney Princesses talked to animals and loved forests? If so, it makes sense that they would take care of their own grounds if they were in the game.
Like in Animal Crossing, gardening here will make you money and is more of a necessary than a fun thing to do. But that doesn’t mean gardening is boring, and while you’re gardening, you might find useful items.
Potion Craft
You are not here to garden because you like plants. You really just want to connect with your witchy side by making different drinks from the plants you’re growing.
Even so, gardening is still a part of the process of making potions in Potion Craft.
Because of the Enchanted Tree, most of the plants you gather grow at an unrealistically fast rate. But it’s beautiful to see your Enchanted Garden grow with new types of plants almost every day. Until you pick them one by one to use in your next recipe.
Little Witch In The Woods
When you play this game instead of the last one, you really do live out your witch dreams in the woods. In the middle of your garden is your house. Your garden is where you’ll grow all the herbs you need for your drinks. You can look for things outside of your yard in The Little Witch in the Woods if you need more ingredients for your potions.
How well you can garden will be shown by how you pick these plants, since not all plants are made the same. You can’t just pull these plants out with your bare hands. You’ll need your potions to help you get out plants that are just as amazing.
Coral Island
Coral Island is a fun place to explore nature. The most important thing you can do in the game is farm. It’s one of the best skills you can learn in the game, but it’s not so much about making pretty plants as it is about putting things that you need.
At least you can set up and design your farm however you like.
The best part about gardening in this game is that you can find different kinds of seeds in the wild to use on your plants. You can always buy seeds at Sam’s General Store if you don’t want to hunt them.
Cult Of The Lamb
If you need a title with the word “cult” in it, gardening won’t come to mind. But when you’re taking care of people in your faith, you have to do a lot of farming, and food can get pricey if you don’t grow it yourself.
Cult of the Lamb makes farming more fun than it should be, even though it’s a necessary task.
It’s actually your followers’ poop and making good food for them that will keep your farm alive. You’ll start to see farming as a small strategy game inside a bigger strategy game as you go along.
Slime Rancher 2
When you garden in Slim Rancher 2, it feels more like you’re growing slimes than real plants. Of course, that’s mostly how this game works. You’ll be taking care of slimes more than plants.
But having a bunch of slime pets and traveling a lot gets old fast, so gardening here should be a peaceful experience.
Actually, it doesn’t take long for plants to grow here. There is nothing zen about gardening in Snake Game. You have to think a lot about how to feed your slimes to the corrals.
Plants Vs. Zombies
What about planting that goes too far? Classic Plants vs. Zombies is plant warfare on your yard, and taking care of your plants is how you stay alive against zombies. But it’s not really caring for plants; you’re just getting sunshine and planting a lot of them.
It’s hard to think of peppers that explode as a plant friend, but when it saves your brains and other plants from zombies, you’ll remember it as the plant that gave up its life for the good of your yard.
Cloud Gardens
The best thing about Cloud Gardens is that it lets you grow without any other distractions. There are no people in the game, and you’ll see buildings from a long time ago.
You’re not here to learn about history, though. You’re here to solve puzzles and put plants on old, dying buildings.
Cloud Gardens is a short-lived experience that lets you take care of your big plants in the sky. It’s much more fun to plant trees and pull weeds in the sky than to actually garden, especially when you feel like a god taking care of your own Eden.
