Change Your Tyres because You Can Not Use Them Forever

Posted on December 19, 2023 By Editorial Team

You have to change your tyres after a specific time. Tyres are not with you forever. Surely high-grade premium tyres can bear the pressure of daily driving conditions but they are not invincible.

Harsh road and weather conditions kill your Goodyear tyres steadily.

If we talk about the ideal interval to change car tyres, it is tough to determine a day or date. Tyre manufacturers tell you about a safe timeframe to use your tyres. After this period, you have to change your tyres.

But the question of when you should change your tyres remains.

Tyres are costly. Therefore, it is natural if a car driver wishes to use a set of tyres for a long time.

Unfortunately, it is not possible for several reasons.

So, before you determine the time to change your car tyres, you deserve a clear answer to the following question.

Why should you change your car’s tyre?

You need to change your car tyres regularly to keep the performance level of your vehicle stable.

Efficient tyres are essential for your vehicle. They provide proper grip and traction on both dry and wet roads. So, the stability of a car totally depends on the efficiency of the Tyres Reading.

The strength of a car tyre affects a lot of aspects of driving, such as loading capacity, braking distance, handling features, driving comfort and road safety.

Interestingly, the strength and performance of cars depend on the efficiency of car tyres.

Therefore, you need to change car tyres when they are not at the peak of their strength.

Suppose you do not change your old tyres for a long time, you may observe a lot of changes in tyre’s behaviour in this condition:

Tyres would not be able to maintain proper grip and traction on dry roads. Moreover, they would not save you from hydroplaning by displacing extra water in wet conditions.

Old tyres are prone to punctures and blowouts. You will face these issues again and again because of thin tyre rubber and issues like bulges and cracks.

Moreover, old tyres will lose their efficiency to respond quickly when you increase or decrease the speed of your vehicle.

Your vehicle will suck more fuel due to your old and faulty tyres. Old tyres run on roads with a higher level of rolling resistance. As a result, the car engine has to use more fuel to move these inefficient tyres.

What will you do with these lazy and sick car tyres?

Certainly, you have to replace them with new and advanced car tyres.

Tyre manufacturers recommend that you must change your tyres after 6 years to 10 years.

However, you may change your tyres earlier than this specified time due to factors like harsh road and weather conditions, bad driving habits and poor maintenance. It is also possible that you maintain your tyres efficiently and your tyres serve your car for a prolonged period.

Usually, old and faulty tyres show the following warning signs. You must replace your tyres with new tyres after observing these red signals.

Reduction in the tread:

You may detect signs of tread wear if you visually check your car tyres at regular intervals. Proper tread depth is enough to indicate that your tyres are fully efficient in assisting you in both favourable and unfavourable road conditions. Reduction in the tread is a sign of decreasing efficiency of car tyres.

According to the laws of the UK, car tyres must have at least 1.6mm tread to function effectively on roads.

Measuring the tread depth is easier with the help of tread wear bars. These inbuilt markers run across the middle of the tread. Car owners cannot observe them if the tread depth is at the optimum level. They appear in only bald tyres.

If you want a precise measurement, you a tread depth gauge or you can measure the tread depth with the use of a 20p coin.

Cracks in the tyre sidewall:

Even premium tyres may develop cracks in their sidewall due to ageing over time. Oils and chemicals in the tyre rubber dry up due to ageing. As a result, car owners observe minor or major cracks on the sidewall. Factors like UV rays and heat also promote the rate of cracking in the sidewall.

Cracks are not repairable. Therefore, you have to replace your tyres after observing cracks.

Bulges on the sidewall:

Just like cracks, bulges on the sidewall are also not repairable. They take place because of impact damage. Faulty internal components cause lumps on the body of your car tyres.

Since the internal body is not in good condition, you must not repair tyre bulges. The presence of a bulge is just an indication of internal faults. So, you should change your faulty tyres as soon as possible.

Unusual sounds or vibrations:

Drivers are familiar with the sounds and vibrations that normally come from car tyres . Abnormal sounds and vibrations even on smooth roads, however, should catch your attention. There may be several reasons for these unusual signs including bad health of car tyres.

Conclusive words

You have to change your tyres according to the recommendations of carmakers. Moreover, observing warning signs is also a clear indication that you need new tyres. It was very nice if you maintained your tyres efficiently but you have to understand that everything is mortal. Your tyres are durable but not invincible. So, they have to die sooner and later and you have to change them like other things in your life.
